지미 스트레인이 올해 환갑을 맞은 자신의 아버지에게 바치는‘사람이 사람에게’는 지미 스트레인 최초의 한국어 음반이자 가장‘한국적인 이야기’를 담고 있는 음반입니다. 사랑과 이별 등 전통적 대중가요의 주제는 물론 외모지상주의, 높은 자살률, 88만원 세대 등 현재 한국사회가 안고 있는 문제들에 대해 친구, 동생, 부모님과 같이 가까운 사람들에게 이야기하는 노래들로 구성되어 있습니다. 보다 편하게, 많은 사람들이 듣기 쉽도록 지난 1집과 2집에서 주를 이루었던 어둡고 강렬한 메탈 사운드를 지양하고 대중 친화적인 소리를 담기 위해 최선을 다했습니다.

[사람이 사람에게] 수록곡 소개
1. Lucky – 살아 있는 사람은 모두 행운아들이다. 행운아들은 세상을 위해 해야 할 일이 많지 않을까. 비록 아직 그럴싸하게 이룬 것이 없더라도 좌절하지 말고 삶에 감사하자. 삶을 열심히 사는 첫 걸음은 감사하는 것이 아닐까. 살아있음에, 이 행운에 감사하자.
2. 애인구함 – 88만원 세대가 구하기 어려운 것은 직장만이 아니다. 자리 잡지 못해 발버둥치는 슬픈 사회 구성원들은 ‘잉여인간’, ‘고학력 잉여’라는 말이 생겨날 정도로 많지만, 정작 그들이 사랑할 수 있고 그들을 사랑해줄 ‘애인’은 너무나 희귀하다. 살아남기 위해, 성공하기 위해 지금 한국은 너무 많은 것을 요구한다. 스펙을 쌓느라 정신없고 더 높은 스펙의 배우자를 찾아야 하는 우리 모두에겐 겉으로 드러나는 스펙이 아닌 마음을 보아줄 진짜 애인이 필요하다.
3. Snow White - 모든 연애는 궁극적으로 자신을 사랑하고 성숙시키는 또 다른 방법이 아닐까. 만나는 날들 하루하루를 진심으로 채우는 것은 자신의 삶을 사랑하는 방법인 것 같다. 그렇게 채운 연애는 비록 헤어졌을 때 괴로워도 더 시간이 흐른 뒤에는 고마운 기억으로 남는다.
4. 인공위성 - 자식은 부모가 하늘에 띄우는 별이다. 자신의 아이들이 자신보다 나은 삶을 살기를 바라는 부모를 둔 아이들은 운이 좋다. 그런 운좋은 아이들이 부모가 이루지 못한 꿈을 대신 이루거나 출세하는 것에만 만족하지 않고, 자신 만큼 운이 좋지 않은 다른 아이들과 그 부모들에게도 빛나는 별이 된다면 좋지 않을까.
5. Zero - 외모지상주의가 신자유주의와 선정적 매스미디어와 함께 맞물린 사회에서 못생긴 것은 때때로 죄요, 외모에 따른 차별은 학력에 대한 차별과 마찬가지로 자연스럽고 당연한 일처럼 여겨진다. 작은 유행의 불씨는 미디어에 의해 거대해져서 각자의 취향과 개성을 대체해버린다. ‘칼날 같은 턱’들과 ‘분필 같은 콧날’의 숲속에서 어느새 예쁘지 않은 사람에게 갖춰야 할 인간으로서의 예의는 0(zero)이 되고, ‘아름다움’이란 단어는 공허해진다.
6. 잘 가시오 - 세상 모든 일엔 항상 좋은 부분과 나쁜 부분이 함께 있다고 하는데, 이별이라고 어디 나쁘기만 할까. 그 동안 누리지 못했던 자유를 만끽하고, 또 다른 방식으로 인생을 즐길 수 있는 좋은 기회가 아닐까.
7. 묻고 싶어도 묻지 않는 것들 - 궁금해도, 의심이 가도 사랑하기 때문에, 또 답을 몰라도 충분히 행복하기 때문에 묻지 않을 때가 있다.
8. 10번 - 학교, 학원, 시험으로 가득한 늪에서 질식사할 것 같지만, 밤 하늘의 별처럼 빛나는 눈빛을 가진 ‘요즘 애들’도 있다. 그들과 같은 늪을 지나 이제 ‘어른’의 대열에 합류했지만 그 늪이 아직도 있음에, 어쩌면 더 깊어졌음에 미안함을 느낀다. 하지만 우리도 그 애들도 아직 젊고, 시간은 얼마든지 있으니 세상은 결국 더 나아질 것이다. 늪은 결국 사라질 것이고, 한국의 모든 ‘학생’들의 눈에 별이 빛날 날이 올 것이다.
9. 자살 권하는 사회 - 이제 사회는 더 이상 술만 권하지 않는다. 술로 풀 수 없는 문제들을 던지는 이 사회는 이제 돈 없고 힘없고, 못생긴 사람들에게 스스로 세상을 떠나라고 등 떠민다. 2009년에 200여명이 넘는 초중고생이 자살했고, 2010년 현재 하루에 40여명이 스스로 목숨을 끊고 있다. 죽음이 가득한 사회답게 ‘죽여주는’ 유행과 ‘죽을 만큼’ 사랑한다는 노래가 가득하다.

10. You Will Find a Way - 나보다 등수가 높은 애를 볼 때, 나보다 화려한 스펙을 가진 사람을 볼 때, 먼저 취직하고, 먼저 결혼한 주변 사람들을 볼 때, 스스로 뒤쳐졌다는 생각이 든다. 힘든 지금 이 시간은 나중에 더 오래, 더 재밌게 기억될 추억을 새기는 작업이라고 생각하자. 결국 다른 방법을 찾아낼 것이고, 결국 더 좋은 길을 찾아낼 것이다.
11. 엄마 - 어머니가 특별한 것은 어머니가 우리의 생물학적 고향이기 때문만은 아니다. 엄마라는 단어 속에는 사랑과 그리움, 헌신과 신뢰라는 뜻도 들어있다.

Human To Human
Jimmy Strain's third commercial album, “Human to Human," is his tribute to his father who celebrates his 'Hwangap' or sixty years of age in December 2010. In Korea, the occasion is remembered as an important landmark in a person's life.
It is not surprising, therefore, that Jimmy created the album in a very Korean way. He not only uses the Korean language for all the songs listed, but also deals with subjects that portray the Korean society such as the high suicide rate, too much emphasis on people's appearance and the young "part-timer" generation.
For apparent reasons, Jimmy's songs here are easier to listen as if he is talking to his own parents, brothers and friends. They present a striking contrast to the dark, heavy metal sound of the first two albums, proving Jimmy's versatility as a singer-songwriter.

Songs of “Human to Human”
1. Lucky – Anyone who is alive is lucky. The lucky have many things to do for the world. Even though we have not yet achieved much, let's not be frustrated but be grateful to life. The first thing we need to live well should be feeling grateful. Let's be grateful for being alive, for this luck.
2. Love Wanted – The "part-timer generation" is called "surplus people" or "the highly-educated surplus." Decent job opportunities are not the only thing the young men and women are struggling to get. They also long for someone who will love them and be loved by them. To survive and succeed in the Korean society, one is required to have the so-called good "spec" meaning "specialties" or a long list of educational background and experience. We all need people who will love or marry us for who we are and not for the "spec" we have.
3. Snow White - Loving somebody is a way of loving and maturing oneself. Whether our love lasts for short or forever, we need to be sincere to the person we love. When such love is over, we ache and spend the night sleepless. Yet, in time, we will be able to cherish the memories.
4. Satellite - Children are stars their parents shoot into the sky. Children are lucky when their parents want them to live better lives than theirs. Wouldn't it be nice if those lucky children not only seek to realize their parents' unfulfilled dreams but rather to be the shiny stars for other, less fortunate children and their parents?
5. Zero - In a society where good looks, coupled with neoliberalism and yellow journalism, serve as the guiding light, ugliness is treated as a crime. Discrimination based on looks is deemed natural as discrimination against the less educated. A fad as small as a candle fire is fanned by the mass media and burns down the different taste and individuality of people. Where the "knife-like chins" and "stick-like nose ridge" rule, the plain faces get "zero" respect and the word "beauty" rings hollow.
6. Good Bye - As the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining and even parting can be more than pain. After bidding goodbye to someone you loved, you can feel greater freedom and enjoy life in a way different from when you were with him or her.
7. The Questions We Don't Ask - There are questions we don't ask although we are curious to know and suspicious. That is because we love that someone or because we are already happy enough without knowing the answer.
8. No. 10 - The heavy loaded routine full of tests and lessons at schools and cramming institutes blur the vision of today's youths, but some boys and girls dare to keep their eyes shining like the stars in the night sky. Those who have survived the suffocating years and joined the club of grown-ups feel sorry for the youths as they helplessly watch their load getting heavier. However, the students and the new adults are young and they still have lots of time. The world will get better and the routine will become easier to bear, and someday, all the young eyes in Korea will shine like stars.
9. The Killer Society - The Korean society used to make its people drink alcohol and it doesn't stop there nowadays. By throwing unsolvable problems to people who don't have pretty faces or power or money, the society pushes them to the edge. More than two hundred youths at elementary and secondary schools killed themselves in 2009. In 2010, forty something people are committing suicide everyday. A society where suicide claims more lives than any other epidemic does, people pursue killings in the fashion and the stock markets, and their songs are full of scream that they would die for love.
10. You Will Find a Way - When we see people who do better at school, who have better "spec," who get jobs before we do, or who marry before we do, we feel we are lagging behind. Let's think the troubles we have now will become amusing memories later, because we will find ways out, the better ways, in time.
11. Mom - Mother is special not simply because she is our biological origin. The word "Mom" means love, longing, trust and devotion.
